SENSORY BLUEPRINT

Welcome
this is more than an object, it’s a system.

Why?

We want to create the ultimate drip coffee experience.

A decade ago, I asked myself a simple question: what is coffee actually missing? I realized there was a problem. Minor to some, perhaps , but significant to me: the actual “post-brew” coffee experience, hadn't evolved.

Over the past two decades coffee has quietly been elevated from daily habit to an art form, evolving into a luxury beverage in its own right, but the experience around it hasn’t kept up.

Specialty coffee was racing forward!  Better beans, better roasting, better water, better brewing. It was having its own "Great Scott" moment, speeding toward the future. But the experience itself was still parked in 1985.

Today, many cafes offer a reserve or competition menu full of world class coffees. You pay a justifiably higher price for extra rare coffee releases. This naturally raises the expectations. The coffee usually delivers. The experience, most often, doesn't. But the "experience" is equally part of the product.

You've heard the saying, "you eat with your eyes first" right? Coffee's no different. Long before flavor reaches your palate, your senses are already gathering clues, setting the stage for what's about to happen. Perception is an integral part of the experience.

I decided not to settle for "good enough." What came out of that is the Sensory Blueprint™,  both an object and a system that protects, magnifies, and elevates.

Roughly 80% of what we call "flavor" isn't taste at all, it's aroma. Lose the aroma, and you're left with something still hopefully balanced, and sweet….  just no longer remarkable.  Yet most tools designed around brewing or enjoying beautiful coffee inherited old design cues. Built for specialty, but not considering the preservation or elevation aromatic volatiles. Think about all large  and open carafes with lots of headspace, wide openings, no lid, no insulation or lidless mugs with zero sensory design. Nothing about how coffee is typically handled, during or after brewing, protects the aromatic volatiles and the flavor riding on them. Everything is left wide open, free to just drift away. Unfortunately that's exactly what makes specialty coffee's flavor special in the first place.

The Sensory Blueprint works differently. Pouring just a little at a time naturally cools the coffee. Sealing it with the lid lets the  volatiles collect in the headspace. Where the glass's sensory geometry magnifies and focuses them, channeling everything towards you instead of letting it scatter into the room. It protects, magnifies, elevates, and allows repeatability in that narrow window where the coffee's cooled enough to taste, but the volatiles haven't yet slipped away. this is the sweat spot where taste and aroma are both at their peak.

But it's not only about the invisible. It's about what's been there the whole time but has been overlooked. The luminous color of coffee through glass, truly beautiful and unique to that bean's processing and roast profile.

I wanted to honor craft with craft, the farmers, the producers, the roasters, and the person finally drinking the cup. Every one of them did their part. This is mine, and I believe it brings value to all.

Designed to:

  • Preserve aroma
  • Magnify flavor
  • Illuminate the cup's hidden spectrum
  • Elevate the experience
  • Deliver repeatability

The result is what we call Hi-Fidelity Coffee. A more immersive, nuanced way to experience coffee.

My hope is simple: world-class coffee, at the highest level, no gimmicks, no pseudoscience. Just the full sensory experience, where the difference is something beginners and pros alike can appreciate.

Hi-Fidelity Method

The Hi-Fidelity Method, is our system we apply when using the Sensory Blueprint. Designed to elevate the experience by enhancing aroma, flavor, and the luminous beauty of exceptional coffee. Zero pseudoscience or unnecessary technology, it focuses on what truly matters: letting remarkable coffees express themselves fully.

The result is what we call Hi-Fidelity Coffee, a more immersive, nuanced way to experience coffee.

 Here's a step by step:

1. Brew into a tall carafe with minimal headspace. Wide carafes and excess headspace both accelerate aroma loss. And these volatiles the invisible key to extraordinary coffee.

 2. Decant into a double-walled thermos, again with minimal to no headspace. These steps preserve those valuable volatile aromatics for the precise moment you want them.

3. Pour a few sips at a time into the Lens glass. This lowers the  temperature of the liquid. That sounds minor, but it's major: the goal is to hit both peak aroma and peak taste in the same small window. At the same time the Lens glass sensory design channels and magnifies the aroma.

4. Cap with the Iris lid, swirl, and wait a few seconds. Here's what this does:

  • The small pour and swirling action help bring the coffee into the ideal tasting range.
  • The closed lid traps volatile aromatics in the headspace, letting them build up and concentrate instead of escaping into the air.
  • The Lens glass's shape channels that concentrated aroma toward your nose.

5. Remove the lid, breathe in the aroma, and sip.

6. Repeat, a few sips at a time, while the rest of the coffee stays protected in the thermos until you're ready for it.

The result is a simple, repeatable method that lets you take full advantage of what's in your cup. As a bonus, the Lens glass reveals the coffee's natural, luminous hues, which usually go unnoticed in a standard cup.

Why This Matters

Most of us pride ourselves on sourcing the best specialty coffee available, coffee that farmers worked incredibly hard to produce. It seems wrong to grow it, process it, roast it, and brew it with such care, only to miss its prime window of flavor because the equipment and process weren't designed to capture it or elevate the experience.
